Fruiting body or mycelium?

We get this question all the time, a common misconception with regards to chaga. Chaga grows in a very different way to other mushrooms such as lions mane and turkey tail which have a separate mycelium and fruiting body. Chaga mushroom is a type of fungus that grows mainly on the bark of birch trees. Chaga produces a woody growth, or conk. The sterile conk is irregularly formed and resembles burnt charcoal on the outside, but inside has a soft core with an orange colour. It is not the fruiting body of the fungus, but a sclerotium or mass of mycelium, mostly black because of a great amount of melanin. Our chaga powder is made from the whole chaga mushroom (is it literally sawn off the tree).

This product has been tested for heavy metals and microbiological contaminants. This product contains no bulking agents, added sugar, palm oil or GMO.
