What is it?

St Johns Wort tincture is an extract made from the hypericum perforatum plant and is named due to it flowering around the summer solstice (on or around St. John’s day on 24 June). It has a long history of use, thought to have been used by the Romans as far back as the 1st century AD.

St Johns Wort contains hypericin and hyperforin. The most common use of St Johns Wort is for treating anxiety, OCD, and SAD (seasonal affective disorder). However it is also taken for sleep disorders, PMS and symptoms of menopause.

Dosage and serving suggestions

We always recommend consulting a registered herbal practitioner, but a common suggested dose is 15 – 20 drops in water three times a day.
